She taught in cities like Maiduguri, Jos, Kaduna, Minna, Owerri, Enugu and Bauchi. She also served in various capacities at the Methodist church as well as her community in Oboro, Ikwunao, Abia state. Mrs. Alice Okechinyere Atuonwu was born in Calabar. She attended the Hope Waddell Institute where she graduated with a first school leaving certificate. She then proceeded to obtain a Teachers’ Grade III Certificate in 1954.
